FAQs
Frequently asked questions
HOW MANY GUESTS CAN A MONOHULL YACHT SLEEP?
Except in the case of very large yachts, the maximum guest capacity is 8 - this allows for 2 crew, meeting the vessel's maximum of 10 souls onboard.
HOW MANY GUESTS CAN A CATAMARAN SLEEP?
The vast majority of our Catamarans can sleep a maximum of 8 guests, in four double cabins however some of our more premier tier vessels have an additional cabin, usually a double bunk, in order to accommodate 10 guests + 2 crew for 12 souls onboard.
WHAT IS THE TOILET AND SHOWER SITUATION ONBOARD?
All of our vessels except some of our smaller monohull yacht options will have a minimum of two heads. The heads consist of a toilet, shower and sink with hot water inside.
Nearly all vessels also have a shower on the stern (back) of the vessel, for guests to rinse salty water off after swimming.
IS ALCOHOL INCLUDED?
All of our charters are BYOB. There are many opportunities throughout the week to stock up. Your Skipper will let you know when/if access to a shop is not possible so that you can prepare in advance.
WHICH DIETS CAN YOU CATER FOR?
We can cater for all dietary requirements (within reason of course!)
HOW MUCH CASH SHOULD I BRING?
This is always a difficult one to answer, because every guest has a different budget. But I recommend bringing cash for your evening meals, snacks and alcoholic beverages throughout the week, as well as any extra activities/excursions.
Some businesses don't take card, and some do, some will pretend not to if it suits them. To avoid often hefty ATM fees, I recommend getting plenty of cash out in your country of origin, and changing any remaining cash back on your return.
WHAT PERSONAL ITEMS DO I NEED TO BRING?
We provide the basics, like toilet roll, hand soap, bedding and towels, but your personal toiletries, sanitary products and creature comforts are up to you.
We recommend bringing the following with you:
1) Bluetooth speakers (all of our vessels have speakers, but some of our guests like to bring them anyway, for picnics or the beach for example)
2) Swimming trunks/suits
3) SPF 50
4) Water bottle
5) Trainers for excursions
6) Wide brimmed hat
7) A dry bag or small rucksack, for carrying essential when on land.
8) Polarised sunglasses
9) A lightweight fleece/jumper for cooler evenings
10) Waterproof jacket, in case of storms or rough seas
11) Sea sickness tablets - rough seas are quite rare, but if you have had feelings of sea sickness on a boat before, or even if you haven't and you'd just prefer the peace of mind, we recommend bringing some along.
Most guests don't bring or need them, but they are a cheap, effective and hassle free option if taken before setting sail and throughout the week.
WHAT IS THE TIPPING CULTURE AT LOCAL BUSINESSES?
Although it's not expected like some countries, it is very much appreciated, if you feel like the service warrants a gratuity.
Most restaurants and bars you'll be visiting only have a short window of operation during the summer months, so every little helps!
HOW DO WE GET TO YOU?
Depending on the country or itinerary that you choose, your Skipper will direct you to the marina that we'll be departing from in a welcome email sent prior to your arrival.
Our Croatian itinerary departs from marina Baotic, near the town of Trogir. You can take a taxi from Split airport, which will take you to the marina in around 15-20 minutes.
Our Greek itinerary departs from Athens proper. The quickest way to get from Athens international airport to the marinas in Athens is via taxi (around 45 minutes) - but you can take a slightly slower bus, if you'd like to save some cash for Aperol's!
HOW DO I GO ABOUT ARRANGING OPTIONAL EXTRAS/EXCURSIONS?
During the booking process, Tom will do his best to gauge the energy and dynamic of your group, and work with you to make plans/reservations where necessary.
Many activities and excursions can be arranged on the fly, during your charter. For those that can't, Tom will make you aware and make arrangements where necessary.
WHAT HAPPENS IN THE CASE OF BAD WEATHER?
Above all else, guest safety is our number 1 priority.
Although extremely rare, In the event that bad weather causes delays, or for the vessel to remain in port longer than usual, all efforts will be made to provide land based options for you to occupy your days. This is your Skipper's decision, and would only be taken if there was a possible risk to yours or the vessel's safety... or if you'd like to check out a certain island for an extra night of course!
WHAT ARE THE MAIN FACTORS TO CONSIDER WHEN SELECTING DATES TO SAIL?
Once you've managed to assemble your friends or family and have decided which dates could work for you, we then recommend considering the following:
1) COST. We might as well begin with the factor that is linked to all the others on this list - the cost of your vessel can fluctuate depending on whether it falls into what's considered high or low season.
Although we do not believe in charging more during school holidays for example, the companies we hire our vessels from do bump up the price during high season (July and August) but as you'll see, there are other reasons as to why guests might like to opt for low season anyway..
2) WEATHER. High season roughly corresponds to the hotter summer months, where days are typically mid 30's and evenings can be as hot as the low 20's.
For sun seekers, these are the more popular months, however some guests who prefer cooler weather, less crowds, and more wind (which leads me nicely onto my third and final point) may prefer Late may, early June or late September.
3) WIND. As we are a sailing charter, wind can be a deciding factor for many guests. Along with the slightly cooler "low season" months, also comes a higher probability of wind, which for guests who are really keen to sail, can be a very important factor to consider. It also helps that low season is cheaper, resulting in your vessel and thus overall charter price typically being slightly lower.
It is not uncommon to go a whole week during high season with sub 10 knots every, or nearly every day. For keen sailors, this isn't really enough wind speed to get the most out of a sailing vessel.
CAN YOU GIVE ME AN IDEA OF PRICE?
Due to the bespoke nature of our charters, and the different tiers of vessel we can offer, the weekly price can vary significantly. This is why we give a "price from" as a guide..
Monohull Yacht - from £10,000
Catamaran - from £12,000
WHAT KINDS OF CHARGING FACILITIES CAN I EXPECT WHILST ONBOARD?
This depends greatly on the tier of vessel that you choose - as standard, all of our vessels will have at minimum, the ability to charge phones and small devices through USB ports. When your vessel is in port, and there is access to shore power, the domestic (European) plugs will also work, for larger devices such as laptops and drones.
Some of our more premier tier Yachts and Catamarans are equipped with onboard generators, usually to power air conditioning in the cabins. The generator also allows guests to use the domestic plugs as normal, even when not plugged in to power on shore.
This can be of particular relevance to guests who require steady power for devices such as sleep apnoea machines.
IS THERE Wi-Fi ONBOARD?
If you require internet access onboard, we can offer small Wi-Fi routers for £50 per week.
Normally however, if you have a European or UK phone contract, your data plan will apply throughout Croatia, and because we are never sailing out of sight of land, you'll nearly always have good signal during the week.
We only recommend these routers to guests who would prefer that extra peace of mind, in case they have to jump on to a work Zoom call for example.
DO I NEED TO BRING AN ADAPTER TO CHARGE MY DEVICES?
You will need to bring a three pronged European style adapter in order to charge larger devices onboard your vessel.
Most vessels have USB ports scattered throughout, so you won't have any trouble charging small devices or phones.
I AM INTERESTED IN ADDING "PILATES WITH CAROLINE" TO MY BOOKING - HOW DOES THIS WORK?
Please let us know on enquiry if you're interested in having Caroline onboard.
We will then liaise with her before confirming her availability and quoting you a price. This price is comprised of Caroline's daily rate and travel costs, plus a booking fee of £300
When finalising your guest list, please bare in mind that for the days Caroline is onboard, she will of course be taking up a space on your vessel.
